They're the best band in the world
My favourite bit is hearing the french guy call the Mogwai sound guy a motherfucker in a french accent.
Funnily enough I remember they ranted about this on their website after it happened. Talking about how one snare drum shot at a standard show was over the legal limit in france and what a stupid law it was.
I still feel stupid for not going to see Mogwai supported by Bardo Pond when they played glasgow. I would have probably lost my hearing for good but it would have been the best way to lose it.
I really do want to see Mogwai live though, if only to find out how bone crushingly scary Like Herod is live. I can almost imagine the front 5 rows being knocked flat. They probably had the best ever goals when setting out as a band, the idea that you could form a band who's main goal was to play music so loudly that the wind from the speakers would make your clothes flap.
It was funny reading how Kevin Shields went to see them live, and had to take a step back when the first big bass drum hit came.
