Zehn, you seem to forget that some people like/need to run with PUGs. If you're just gonna be grouped with someone for an hour or two.. generally you're not going to go through the hassle of giving everyone your vent info and such. Not to mention, who the hell wants random pubbies to have access to your ventrilo. Not this guy.

But.. quite a many friends I've made in games (mostly EQ1 cause WoW is full of fucktards) came from good ole normal text chat. So, that could be a reason why some people prefer text chat.

As to the speed of combat. Yeah.. I agree with you, fast, slow.. as long as it's not FPS fast you can still chat.

I prefer slower combat as well because while healing in WoW is good and all.. DPS for some classes is just a matter of facerolling across your keyboard. That's more of a class issue than combat speed though. Even still though, I do like slower combat.
