Lived my entire life on Long Island, right near Hempstead. Very, very easy to get into Manhattan; the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) will have you into Penn Station in about 40-45 minutes. What is there to do on Long Island? Much the same things there are to do in suburbia anywhere. Lots of bars and random parties and whatever if that's your thing. Tons of great restaurants. I live in Long Beach, so I have to give a nod to LI's beaches (though don't expect Hawaii or Caribbean quality). Towns are generally very self-segregated. Lots of annoying as shit rich girls. Be glad to field more specific questions as you ask them. What school are you going to -- Hofstra?
