The eve wiki seems pretty good from the random articles I've read in the past. (For anyone looking to get into invention it's by far better than any other I've come across.) Take a look at the New Players and For Rookies sections - took a quick peek at a few in there, like the ship fitting guide, and they seem decent.

Jump in, do the tutorials (no really, this is the one game you really do have to do them), and you can ask anything here or join the official Help channel ingame when you get stuck. Eve is a big complicated game, but we all started at the same point so don't worry about it.
