| Yeah, you pretty much need to watch the previous series. It plops you right into the storyline right after the previous series took place. There's a ton of character development that you'd be missing.
There's no reason at all to skip it either, it's an amazing series from start to end and definitely one of the most worthwhile "long" series to watch.
