| Gonna have to go with a WoW expansion.
A Cataclysmic event in the old world would give them a chance to update the engine or make any other number of changes to the game that they want.
Looking at the expansion map, I see they still have at least two more expansions mapped before the planned end the game.
Of course there is the more intriguing idea that they are actually going to end the game world ahead of schedule in order to clear the way for their new MMO. I think that would be an awesome idea, but probably way too risky in terms of being a business model. Still, you could see some sort of transition taking place. It's not like they don't have more money than god to throw at the problem. |
