Funny too, the best critically received film (and fan favorite, I might add) of TOS, Wrath of Khan, Roddenberry didn't even have creative control over.

roddenberry wasn't the only positive force in star trek, but his was the guiding force. all his work wasn't great, but a lot of it was. if jj's world turns out to be half of what gene's was taken as a whole, i'll come back and give you a cookie or three. but now from what i've seen, not even cautious optimism is.. logical.
