If I can get my 2nd pc up and running with hackintosh I'll be on eqmac eventually, my main pc has a couple of bits in it that just plain don't work so I'm currently playing on FV in regular EQ. I made a rogue 19 days ago it's now at 70/365, starting at just 51/50 is indeed bonkers in a game that now comes with mercs. I can't see it being anything other than a playground server for some people to roll an alt of a class they havent done before.
Kreugen has to be right surely, once they have coded in the 51/50 (if nothing else its banking 50 instead of 30!) they have to roll it out to all. More likely they will add it in as an expansion "feature" for all other servers though
