| I agree. I honestly think that a PvP progression server would have a higher retention of players than a regular progression server. Progression has been done, the novelty about how fast expansions can be beaten is gone.
The old PvP servers were a lot of fun, but having it on a progression server would be insanely chaotic. Imo it would give a real challenge to the people who want to unlock each expansion asap, and would give the people who want the game to remain in the decadence of old school EQ a mechanism to make it so. Who needs timelocks when you have players dedicated to preventing others from beating dragons and farming keys? At the same time, it really would make unlocks an impressive achievement and would give a much larger feeling of accomplishment for actually unlocking an expansion.
PvP would have more meaning on an EQ progression server than it ever had on any of the old school ones, and those were a ton of fun regardless of how meaningful the PvP was. |
