I wish SOE would do something along the lines of a preorder. X amount of people pay money to "invest" in a server that is just vanilla EQ. Once a specific number or willing participants is reached then they should agree to create said vanilla server. It would be pretty easy for their finance department to set up a soft cap of the numbers needed to make this specific venture profitable for them.
I honestly think that a lot of intra office politics comes into play with decisions like this. The guy who made the new Freeport doesn't want his work ignored and the guy who made the original Freeport no longer works at SOE to bitch.
Then again it is almost 4AM, this could all be complete nonsense.
