Bring back epicly-long (but don't forget epicly-rewarding) quest lines that require whole raids to do. Put the MMO back into MMORPG for fucks sake. |
Are you crazy? AQ Gate opening event? I did the AQ gate quest with my old EQ guild, who is the top guild on eu.illidan, and I hated it so much I quit the days we completed our resources. I farmed thousands of Linen, by myself I completed 50%+ of that requirement. There was nothing epic about it, the entire time I hated playing, everyone in my guild was demoralized as we where the only ones working to open the gate while the rest of the alliance was selling thorium for 10g a bar and silk for 20g a stack. I think the AQ Gate was the single most retarded idea ever put into a main stream MMO second only to FFXI's 24hour+ boss fight.
The Epic Quest boat has sailed and sank though, it ended with EQ. I don't think anything anywhere competes with the 10th Ring Event, and the old school Epic Quests where all several times more badassed and rewarding than anything WoW has outside of Thunderfury/Sulfurion which at best equal them.
As far as awesome items go though, Blade of Carnage/Scepter of Destruction from EQ. Not only where they both pretty much as good as it got during velious but you could let your close RL friends (that you know where they live) and little brother play with them, or give them to an alt and be the very reason that EQ put in level requirements on gear later on.
