Evolution is so true that it's a victim of its own success. I think the media distort minor biological differences and scientists' tendency toward tossing out fun unproven facts in interviews to make it seem like EVERYTHING is survival of the fittest. Like big noses vs. small noses, or the fat around Asian eyes that makes them 'squint.' These things, and other differences among the human species, probably do not serve a major(or minor) purpose. It could have just been that populations were separated during a cataclysm or ice age and due to the founder effect strange traits were expressed disproportionately throughout the population with neutral benefits. Not every biological difference has some amazing evolutionary advantage. If it was so cold in Asia at one point that your eyes froze out if you didn't have Chinese eyes, I doubt humans could survive at all.
