As for Pujols winning MVP:
Yes, the voters are inconsistent in criteria, as it is every year for MVP, but Pujols was so far and ahead better than every other hitter in the game this year that he deserved to win the MVP.
The Cardinals actually won 86 games this year. Put them in the NL West or the NL East, and they likely win the division easily because they don't have to face the Cubs and Brewers 16 times a year.
Pujols completely destroys Howard in every statistic this year except HR's and RBI's (and the sheer # of times someone can strike out in a season). It really shouldn't even be close. I mean, Pujols had a batting average higher than Howard's OBP!
