In my opinion, yes. Running generates an incredible amount of impact. A good shoe is the only defense you have between that impact and a potential injury. If you already run with perfect form, you might not notice much of a difference. If you're one of 99% of the people that don't have perfect form, a great shoe can keep you injury free. Personally, I've noticed a difference with cramps, shin splints, ankle injuries and blisters. With time, impact injuries can wreak havoc on your feet and joints. If you buy last year's models you won't see much of a price increase over what you're using now. Even if you pay $20 or more over the shoe you're currently using, I think you'll notice the long-term benefits.
