This isn't the type of board where the hardcore "I'm not paying for anything" crowd hangs out. I suspect the typical "piracy" that users around here commit is for anime, TV shows, music/videos they already own, or avoiding DRM.
Such civil disobdience merely highlights the growing problem in industry that hasn't changed for 30 years, and lobbied against innovations all the way back to the VCR lawsuit. A few suggestions on that note:
1) Eliminate DRM
2) Develop DVR -> PC interfaces
3) Offer subscription packages for foreign channels (i.e. japan animation networks)
4) Globalize Releases
5) Back catalog convenience for music/videos. (No one likes rebuying the same content in different formats)
