At least John McCain has a record of bipartisanship and doing what he feels is right. He almost threw his chance to run away this time because he proposed that abortion of an immigration reform bill; because he believed in it.
Yes, McCain has pandered in the last 8 years. Yes, he is trying to show the evangelicals they don't need to think he is the boogeyman. That's a neccessary evil under the current republican coalition. But that doesn't mean he's going to govern like Bush, and that doesn't mean he's agreed with everything Bush has done. If you've paid attention to politics the last eight years you would know that.
