I like St. Anger, I like how raw it sounded. I think that album just polarized people. For me..., it was the hardcore answer to Load/Reload that I dream of from all the bands I used to like that went soft. Even if you didn't like the album did anyone want yet another "soft" album from Metallica? Or would you rather they put out something so ungodly raw, even if you didn't like the sound, in hopes that they would get back on track and make more great music? |
You mean it was a shitty, misguided answer to Load and Reload that they undertook because a retarded section of the fanbase had started to cry salty, hardcore tears about how Metallica had "gone soft".
Load is a great album and Reload is decent. St. Anger is shit and anyone who enjoys music, but refuses to worship at the alter of "my favorite bands can do no wrong" will tell you as much.
The really sad thing is that Metallica released "I Disappear" on the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack between Reload and St. Anger, and that got everyone I know pumped for the album which turned out to be an unmitigated abortion of music.
