There's more than a hint of hypocrisy here.
The Final Battles in CT progressively build on the same central chords and rhythms. I'm sure this seems less impressive to you because of the emotions you associate with Dancing Mad and the multi-part end battle.
The FF6 music is without a doubt
grander, which is fine because the game tells a grander tale. CT features tune which do an incredible job of capturing the feel of it's various eras which is no less consequential.
