Um, by the same token, Starcraft and Warcraft play to the exact same crowd, yet last I checked they're still two of the most successful video game franchises ever -- especially for the RTS genre. Oh and they came out 4 years apart (the first game for each franchise), with Warcraft II coming out only 3 years prior to Starcraft.
It's really a win-win situation regardless of which franchise they choose to go with for their next-gen MMO, because at this rate it looks like the only company that will produce an MMO to trump World of Warcraft will be Blizzard.
