The books had to be changed in order to make them viable as movies. As it was, at the end of Fellowship plenty of people were off-put by the abruptness of the ending. Can you imagine if it followed the book and lacked any semblance of a climax? |
How exactly do you think the random changes made it better or more dramatic? They fucked up the ending to The Two Towers and added an IWIN button at Minas Tirith among other random things.
BTW I did say that the Fellowship changes where all good, I especially think the new ending was great.
As for Radagast the Brown, they breifly mention him in Lotr as he is the one who gets Gandalf off Isengard via his messages. He is mainly in The Hobbit though I think.
