I got this thing working eventually. Heres what I did:

Popped in a new HD #4

went into BIOS -> disabled the first HD #1 (the 1 with solaris)

restarted

installed XP on new disk #4. tada....

(You cannot install XP on the second disk unless u disable the the first disk)

Not using grub or anything . Just restarting and choosing a disk through the BIOS whenever I want to switch.

I am sure there is a better way but I am not high level enough on Solaris to figure this out in a timely matter. Maybe in the future. thanks
