Correct me if I am wrong, but would he not need congressional approval for that? If he tried to do that, would he not pretty much face mutiny from the various levels of government and military?
I really don't think even Bush is dumb enough to do such a thing, unless they manage to fabricate some Gulf of Tonkin incident, and I'm not a big believer in conspiracy theories most of the time. Hopefully Iran isn't fucking dumb enough to give them an incident they can play off, anyway.

Did you not take anything away from that Chris Matthews embarassment of the Republican yes-man? Negotiation and diplomacy are NOT appeasement. Appeasement is giving up territory, or incentives like "oh hey fine build a nuclear reactor just play nice". What exactly has Obama offered to Iran that would count as appeasement? Has he offered to give them Lebanon or Israel, or parts of Iraq? If not, then shut the fuck up about appeasement already, you're sounding like that asshole on Hardball just screaming "APPEASER, APPEASER" over and over again without even fucking knowing what it means or what it references.
