| I've seen ghosts on two occasions when I was younger, somewhere about ages 8 to 11. I don't believe in ghosts and assume them to be my mind having projected a dream into reality.
The first time I was younger and lying in bed with the door open falling asleep. I was lying on my side and I noticed a movement at the door. I looked up and a partially transparent figure "floated" into my room and stopped at the end of my bed. The face was human shaped but had no discernible features and it was wearing a long sleeved flannel shirt. The bottom of the shirt kind of faded away and there was nothing below it. I sat frozen for a few moments before bolting out of the room around the thing to my parents room.
The second instance I was several years older and it still creeps me out because of how real it felt. I was in a lucid dream and in it my older sister had just got a new apartment. Inside there was a double doorway that was open but the room beyond was in total darkness. My sister told my I shouldn't go in there but of course I did. I rounded the corner into the dark room then BAM, I was instantly awake and the black silhouette of a woman was standing at my bedside leaning over me arms flailing, beating me violently. The figure faded after about 10-15 seconds and I just sat there horrified.
After falling back asleep I found myself in the exact same dream and again, the second I entered the dark room I snapped awake and was being assaulted by this thing leaning over me. It happened a third time the same night and then never again. I've always had lucid dreams but never in my life have I had the same dream twice, let alone three times in the same night and with such an abrupt and scary ending.
So yes, I've seen ghosts but I don't think they were anything more than my mind playing some pretty cool tricks on me. The first time I was near sleep and the second time I was waking from sleep. Despite that, when I saw the ghosts I was definitely fully awake and in reality so for my brain be able to trick my eyes like that has always interested me. |
