In WOTLK they'll be bringing in a concurrent tiered structure. So this is really just a precursor to this. You'll have your upper echelon gear at 2200 points, mid tier requiring 1700 and scrub gear for 1300+ .
Makes more sense because you can have actual gear progression then. Introducting it in S4 kinda sucks because the scrubs are getting a big 'yoink!' pulled on them but in the long run it's healthier for the competitive spirit of the game.
Honor and the BG system still need a huge fucking revamp. Unless they have some hidden trick up their sleeve, blizzard seems to think one new BG and an uninspired 'random' daily is going to solve all the tedium problems. |
I agree it's better in the long term, but I think they could go about it a bit better. We have the obvious personal rating thing shitting everything up, we don't need to go into that again, but then also I think it would make a lot more sense to display to you your current rank and percentile rank, and tier gear up that way. Top X% can buy shoulders, top X+Y% can buy Weapon, etc. The way it's set up right now it entirely depends on the condition of the battlegroup and how many teams are playing. That's a little oddball. I understand it's a lot neater solution for the masses to be able to say "Sweet, only need to gain 50 more points and I can buy my new ass chaps," but it really doesn't make any sense for one guy to have shoulders on a BG where there's lots of teams feeding points into the system, and then have a guy on another BG basically have to be #1 to get them.
