One reason I am not hyped at all for the newer titles on the horizon such as AoC or Warhammer is the PvP aspect. After seeing the travesty that is World of Warcraft PvP, I want developers to keep there PvP horse-shit as far the fuck away from PvE balance and risk vs reward as possible. If I am proven wrong great but as it stands I do not thing a MMO can ever be a good PvP game. |
Vanguard was mine as well. I was hoping to relive the EQ experiance all over again, but even if a game were to be able to accomplish that herculian task, Vanguard wasn't it.
I think PVP can make it in MMO's but I do believe for games to truly prosper they need to pick what they want. I don't think PVP and PVE exsist well at all together. Either be PVP OR PVE not both, or more often than not you will fail miserably. So far, WoW has done pretty good, but I wonder if all this constant rebalancing will not eventually catch up to them and bite them in the butt.
