WoW is not like most other MMOs. I have yet to meet a single person in WoW since the beta that I would want to spend any time at all with. The exception being members of my old guild, which was freaking FoH. The people who play this game are terrible. You have to hold on to old relationships from past games like grim death or you'll be miserable and alone.
Also, WoW might as well be a single player game in a lot of respects. Shit, I can't even get in pugs most nights in prime time because there are simply not enough people LFG. People in this game are just not accustomed to needing to group to advance. The reason why BGs are so terrible is because it is the only route to solo obtained purple text. BGs are full of people who don't care about PvP at all, they just see it as their only way to advance their characters. It's also easier and faster than getting badge loot.
