i said it a while back and nothing ive seen has changed my mind:

the biggest divide in the democratic party isnt race or gender. its age. obamas gotta connect with people who are older - fast. those are the people most likely to vote with mccain simply because well they identify with him more because of it. i think people get over race or gender for the most part come fall. age? not so much.

its not a bad thing but people are in denial if they think the "back in my day'ers" arent more likely to vote for someone they see as experienced in life as they are.
