| Vampire Weekend - Self-Titled Album At first I thought this album seemed a bit too "easy." That is, it seemed cobbled together very quickly, with lots of beats and melodies being reused from track to track. Lyrically, there were some really interesting highs (Mansard Roof) and amateurish lows (Campus, Bryn). Overall, I found the album very inconsistent.
But it's really started to grow on me recently. It's a great album to listen to while running, for instance. The generally up-tempo tracks and interesting sounds help keep a pace going. I'm also finding myself listening to it more and more in the car.
Anyone else have similar reactions to this album? I apologize if there's been a thread about this before, but I couldn't find one. |
