Salvatore has only written 3 good books..The Dark Elf Trilogy. The rest of his catalog is utter garbage. Icewind dale is almost plagiarism,which he freely admits. Cleric Quintet,besides the 2 dwarf brothers,was a painful experience to get through.
Everything after Icewind Dale with Drizzit has been worse then most comic books.Did anyone like Demonwars?I rest my case.
Now you probably asking if you hate his writing so much why keep giving him chances? This is why, The Dark Elf trilogy was one of the best fanasty novels I have ever read. It was amazing from starting to end. I think it was because it was the first time Salvatore really dug deep and put himself into his characters. He might have had some possible farther issues,who knows.
I have never enjoyed ANY Fanasty novel as much as those,and I'll continue to give him chances just incase there is an iota of chance he can reproduce that again. Unfortunately he was a one trick pony,and I finally surrendered by refusing to buy his churned out crap anymore.
Salvatore to me is one the most overrated writers working today.He must have signed a pact with the devil to create Dark Elf....
