I went for vacation when I was about 16, while "shit on" may have been too strong of a phrase, their is definitely a feeling of "outsider discontent". We were basically told by our travel agent that if we left the "touristy" areas to not expect a warm welcome, and I can understand that. I really don't care if people visit Vegas but if the fuckers started pouring into my local/neighborhood bar I wouldn't be too happy about it.
One thing that did strike me odd about Hawaii was their belief that all the mainlander's did was watch porn. Every fucking store I went into basically had a triple-x section in the back but when we went into the more remote/non-touristy places I didn't see that shit at all.
