France, Germany and Japan were all paying $4 a gallon over 10 years ago. Yes, TEN years ago. Gas costs ~$5 a gallon in Japan right now and may rise to $6 next month with a new 30 yen per LITRE tax they are implementing ($1 per gallon).
The US is just barely starting to catch up with the rest of the modern world. |
