As Pinski points out, there's more than Luclin. And it's not coming back together any more than the rumors Jboots are slower this patch.

Jindrack and Vhalen have written a metric fuckton of lore, and still people ignore it and point into the sky and say "Luclin is reforming!". Even though there's not a scrap of lore to support it. The next expansion is Odus, and most likely the retaking of the old cities from EQ1.

What you may have missed......

Rodcet Nife and Bertox story has been told, at least part of it....

They once lived on a planet called "Prime". They even worked in roughly the same field. Rodcet created a panacea which Bertox claims actually *helped* the Shadowed Men gain control.

The point is....the Gods are running from the Shadowed Men too. Worse, the Shadowed Men may very well be the first race ever created by the Gods, and they were expelled into the Void which they reshaped into "Oblivion", a small pocket dimension where they could live by consuming the souls of beings as they passed into the Ethernere. But the Shadowed Men are *not* evil, there is something controlling them, even they acknowledge it.

Someone is controlling the Shadowed Men (Anashi Sul? She was banished roughly in the same way) And the Gods are freaking the fuck out. It appears that many of them already lost on their other worlds, and Norrath is the last chance to drive back the Shadowed Men. Even Veeshan herself may have forbidden dragons to create a Prismatic in the hopes they would disobey her.

Kerafyrm appears to be the only being in existance that is outside the domain of Order and Prophecy. As such, he's not bound by the Kalendar/Shissar doomsday prophecies. That's why the dragons spread rumors that he is our saviour, and perhaps even destroyed Luclin himself to prevent the Shadowed Men from winning a few decades prior to EQ2. I also believe the dragons like the other races became hosts for the Shadowed Men, and Kerafyrm blasted Velious (hence why it's melted and been called roughly in the words of two Devs: The most dangerous place on Norrath).

It's all very convoluted, and it's quickly devolving into Stargate: Everquest. But it's fascinating. The important thing to note is that despite all the story in EQ1. The very BASIS of the story in EQ2 is that the Gods aren't really enemies. They've worked together in the past, and while they may have vastly different philosophies, they are all working towards the same goal. That's evident in the Council of the Gods. The question I have is....why are only certain Gods represented in the Council? Why isn't Bertox, Nife, and others there? Perhaps the "main" Gods of EQ1 are all on the same team dating back thousands of years while newer Gods join the Pantheon with their own methods, as illustrated in the Rememberance: Prime story.

Here's some other strange facts:

When Varsoon ascended to immortality he *immediately* regretted it, and spends eternity trying to find a way to reverse it.

Mayong ascended (unclear if godhood) and was devestated by what he found. Over time he subverted the High-Elves and eventually forged an alliance with his greatest enemies. After helping Mayong recover one of the Planar Stones (the most important objects on Norrath), he allows you to keep it as you are one of the few who can battle the Shadowed Men. Keep in mind this stone was stolen from Mayong by the Shadowed Men and is his most prized possession. Odd.

Trakanon, and Venril are terrified of the future.

My theory is that all the Gods at one time or another were all conquered by the Shadowed Men on their homeworlds (these are the Rememberance books). But each found a way to sieze some of that power for themselves and ascend beyond it, and ultimately--- fight it. Norrath appears to be Agincourt, the place they all came to (including Veeshan) as a last-ditch effort to win. And I think Kerafyrm, along with Nagafen's new Prismatic (who hasn't been revealed) will be at the center of it all. Ironic.

Here's some links. And I suggest if you're a lore nut, you read most of this website.

Something tells me this is the story of Xegony (or someone on the Elemental Wheel) Just my theory though.
The Athenaeum - EverQuest 2 Lore

Scout around the site, you might find a lot of things. And I'm sure I fucked up and/or left things out somewhere in my summary, but that's the gist. My main problem with EQ2 lore is that they haven't answered a single important question since release. At least not things that are the deep mysteries. I much prefer a story that moves on, rather than milk it.

edit:

One last thing...here's the Tome of Destiny from the start of EQ2. It makes more sense now that the Gods would want to destroy the major source of their power (mortals and faith) to prevent the Shadowed Men from devouring Norrath. If there's no hosts, there's no reason to stay. And these hosts had become extraordinarily powerful. Powerful enough to damage the Gods. What would happen under the control of Shadowed Men? They'd be the perfect army. /shrug I really dunno.
