A while ago a new starter area was introduced. Its an introduction to the game, based on an isolated island. It has no contact with the rest of the game, once you leave you can't get back, but XP is very good and you can get everything you need to get going and get the hang of the game here. The only thing I'd add is a quick word about setting up your UI. In the screen shot below, you can see the large chat box. Right click on it, select Visual at the top, then Normal. It now has a border and you can resize it and drag it around. If you have pets click the top left button, Actions / Commands and then Select Pet Actions. These can all then be dragged and dropped to your hot bar. Click Pet Info and you get a draggable Pets status bar. pets can be set to hunt, for afk XP, if thats your thing.
To increase your number of hot key bars, press F10, select GUI then Misc and drag the slider along to select how many you want. You might also want to go to Behaviour there and deselect auto attacking when attacked.
You will get new nanos straight off the bat. Press 'i' to open your inventory, then right click to learn them. Click nano button, 3rd from bottom left and a box will open top right with all your Nanos in it. Drag them to your hot key bar.
