Team rating is reset every week and determines how many points you get. Teams are locked once you play a game that week. You have to play 50% of games to get points.

That is superior to the current system, no doubt about it.
They could just use some sort of averaged team rating (or personal rating?) for the entire season as the rating for seasonal awards.
