Maybe because the PvP sessions this weekend are Aoc PvP minigames!

That might turn out to be true, but there are quite a few people who have suffered very few issues in regards to performance. Furthurmore, many of the problems seem to be caused by people running the game at settings too high for their hardware. (not to say the client doesn't need a lot more optimization)

You could not possibly, objectively come to this conclusion with the tiny bit of AoC you got to experience this weekend. Did you spend your feat points? A lot of people didn't even realize they were there. I'd say it's as deep as any other MMO on the market (meh, maybe that's not saying much).

I'm not a fan of the UI. The chat system drives me batty but it's not a game breaker for me. Character animations are some of the best I've seen in the genre, if not the best. But I can't comment on Ranger because I have not put much time into the class. All subjective though.

A few reasons. People are sick of WoW and what's currently available on the market and looking for something different, or at least new. WARs delay only compounds the desperation. Many people are not having the game stopping issues with AoC some seem to have. Others feel by the time they reach the higher level content, whatever might be missing at launch will be in and ready. AoC will cost you $50.00, not the $15,000+ car sale example you give. If you play and blow through all the content in a month, it's cheaper than going to 10 hours of entertainment at the movie theater. Lastly, some people (gasp) are actually enjoying the game, class imbalance and all.
My two cents
