Listen, I'm not ragging on OSU (they hardly need anyone to start that up), but they need to step aside and let the real teams play for once. We need to recognize that every team can have an off week once in a while and stop telling ourselves "ZOMG ONE LOSS IS BETTER THAN TWO LOSS" in every case. Is that often true? I think so, but in every single case? No, clearly not.
Bottom line is we need to think longer about our bowl picks before going "omg this team is only 1 loss let them in!". Some teams have the stats and record to deserve a bid, but clearly the team isn't ready. Is OSU ready this year? We'll find out. I don't think it's worth arguing before the season starts, and we'll find out if they're for real when they play USC. But all of this "OMG UNDEFEATED THEY RULE!!" talk needs to stop for whichever team it's for. Some teams play easy schedules, some do not. Let's begin to take that more into account. |
