| I have a 42" Samsung in the living room, and a 40" Sony Bravia in the bedroom, both LCD 1080p. The Sony was about $800 more, and the only major difference is the sound quality is a bit better on the Sony (but who has an HDTV without a reciever/speakers anyway?). Other than that, the Samsung has more inputs and they look virtually the same to me.
In other words, go to Best Buy and look at TV's. Buy one that looks good to you. You can't really go wrong with the Samsungs, and they look just as good as the more spendy ones IMHO.
