Meh, there are plenty of involved quest lines that aren't epic related to get done inside both zones. I spent a decent amount of time getting long quest lines done in both Sebilis and Chardok. Not to mention farming those zones and Karnor's for masters while leveling. If you don't feel like dropping a large chunk of plat (or can't) getting shiny collection pieces in there for decent gear is another reason I spent some time in the zone.

But for the most part, yeah, the days of group exp grinding are dead in a ditch. But the questing throughout Kunark was pretty solid as a duo/trio there weren't too many stupid collect quests which required spending way too much time in a certain place for everyone's updates. Not sure if anyone else noticed this who has progressed through the Kunark quests, but it feels like a different team designed the quests for every zone -- or at least were experimenting with different methods of updates etc... Quest text and quest updating methods seemed to differ a lot zone to zone. Text went from serious no-joking text in one zone only to start questing in the next where the text became tongue-in-cheek pun humour like 98% of the quests in WoW (I can't remember for the life of me - maybe Kunzar?).
