Dunsany might disagree with you there, but Howard was brilliant. The Conan and Solomon Kane stuff especially. I mean he had his flaws, and some of his prose is.. well, pretty purple, and he dwelled pretty fervently on the same general theme, but in spite of all that, his work was delightfully evocative, and usually quite a pleasure to read, even with the eye-rolling moments.
