This is S.O.P. for the Packers. They don't draft well, they don't do shit in free agency. This is not conducive to winning in today's game. Favre is old. He said himself that anything less than winning it all is unacceptable and it's clear the Packers aren't going to take the necessary steps to get it done.
You know the Packers could have gotten rid of him at any point right? He isn't holding anyone 'ransom' as you put it. The Pack needed him more than he needed the Packers.
