| on the 2nd part of the temple, on the bottom floor, you can fight the monkey queen even without that talismen thingy to get your item backs. The thing is, they'll continue to steal from you anyway. I forget what the reward is for doing the talismen/thingy side quest, but they'll also stop stealing from you.
