Anyone out there remember Meridian 59? If you don't, I'll give a brief introduction. This is basically the game that started it all. Since then I've personally never seen any game with the overall balance or fun factor of normal play that Meridian 59 has. Why do we give a fuck you say? Well, maybe you don't, but the 2 original main designers have recently purchased all rights to the game from it's original distributor, 3do, and re-released it, with the possibility of a sequel if it does well enough to support them while they work on it. The new company is called Near Death Studios.
As an EverQuest player, this game has alot of appeal in that pretty much no matter what you're doing it's actually fun, and if you need to not pay attention or log, you are MAYBE 3 minutes commited to anything you could possibly be doing. It takes approximately the processing power of a newer microwave to run well, and is perfect for a slow second box or *cough* another window to fill up the downtime while you play EQ. Oh, and let us not forget PVP. Someone pissing you off? All of those Tortioses and Searyx's of the world getting you down? Go fucking kill them. On the downside, the graphics are absolutely horrible, but they give you every bit of information you need to enjoy the game to it's full extent. FYI, me and a few other members of FoH are currently playing on the 101 server, so if you want to come and PK us, make your account there.
Give it a shot, it's 10 dollars a month but you'll quickly see that you are supporting what could turn into a really awesome MMORPG of the future.
Check out Gilroy's Meridian 59 Reference for more info on the game itself.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming...
